What is a Dulcimer?

A dulcimer is similar to a guitar only different!  Unlike a guitar, the dulcimer has no neck.  The body, or sound box, of the instrument runs the full length of the fret board.  The dulcimer is a member of the zither family (classified as a "fretted zither") and is a diatonically fretted instrument.  What that means is, it is like having the white keys on a piano, but not the black keys.  You can play anything on the dulcimer that you can play on the guitar.  The mountain dulcimer is one of the easiest musical instruments to learn and is also the most economical.
No lessons required!!!
